School Lunches

Food at Severn View

Here at Severn View Primary Academy we are incredibly fortunate to have the food in our school catered for by our own in house team comprising of breakfast cook, Zanna and supervisor Kim, Chef Niko and catering assistant Emma.

  • Everything is prepared fresh each day.
  • Menus change each week depending on what is in season.
  • We try to use as much salad, fruit and vegetables from the School's own garden and Bio dome, which are grown by the children.
  • We use local produce where ever possible like vegetables and eggs from Stancombe Beech Farm Shop and meat from near by farmers whom we know and trust.
  • We use food donated to us from local allotments, the Stroud Food Bank and other local suppliers, this helps us to keep the cost of ingredients down but also reduce food surplus by using things that might otherwise go to waste.
  • We also provide food for our Nursery, award winning Breakfast Club and After School Club.
  • Any food waste that we produce is collected to make electricity or goes into the school compost bins to then go back on to the veg patch and Bio Dome.
  • We hold a monthly Lunch Club where we invite older residents in the area to come and share lunch with our children.
  • Niko teaches groups of children one afternoon a week. They get to take home the yummy food they have made to share with their family.
  • At the recent parent forum ( May 2017 ) consensus of opinion was that the 'food by Niko was 110% yummy!'
  • Parents are welcome join their children for lunch any day of the week.
