Outdoor Learning

‘Learning outside the classroom is known to contribute significantly to raising standards and improving pupils ‘personal, social and emotional development’.

(Council for learning Outside the Classroom 2015)

At Severn View Academy we value the wide ranging opportunities that learning outside the classroom provides.  Working outdoors encourages children to think for themselves, make their own decisions, develop intuition, build self esteem and experience and process emotions in healthy ways. We offer fun, thought provoking and educational activities through sustainable, ecological practices. Along with integrated class activities, children can choose to come along to Gardening Club at lunch time and Forest School activities take place on Fantastic Friday afternoons.

Working together as a community is a passion. We have access to nearby woods, we hold whole school events such as hedge tree planting and take visits to local orchards and farms. Small groups work on special projects in our grounds - often seen harvesting vegetables for our kitchen!  We encourage parents to get involved too.

Our latest exciting Bio Dome Project is well underway and will provide wonderful learning experiences for our children and families. Should any parent wish to get involved with our fabulous Outdoor Learning Environment then please contact Mrs Adrienne Robertson on 01453 766328.
