On Thursday 6th March it is World Book Day, a fun occasion, which celebrates the joy and value of books and reading.

We would like the children to bring into school their favourite book character – made from a potato. The potatoes may be decorated and accessorised in any way your child chooses! Whilst you are busy being creative, it would be great to spend some time talking about what it is your child likes about that character. Please bring the decorated potatoes into school on 6th March for us to display in class.

On World Book Day, your child will also receive a £1 World Book Day token, which can be exchanged for one of ten special £1 World Book Day books, or used to get £1 off any book costing £2.99 or more.

You can join us in building your child’s enthusiasm for reading well beyond World Book Day by reading together regularly. The World Book Day website (www.worldbookday.com) is worth a visit – it has some great ideas on sharing books at home.
