Giant Chess Set Donation

Severn View were fortunate to work with Graham Brown from Stroud Chess Club during our Thrilling Thursday sessions teaching the children how to play chess and develop their skills. Chess has proved to be very popular with the children. They have enjoyed these sessions very much and many have taken up playing chess at home or after completing tasks in the classroom.

Graham Brown kindly approached Big Game Hunters to let them know how much our children have enjoyed playing chess and consequently they have generously donated an outdoor giant chess set to the school. Please follow this link to see the wonderful set we are receiving:

“It is our pleasure at Big Game Hunters to provide a fun Giant Chess Set for the children and staff of Severn View Academy. We’re passionate about outdoor play and this giant version of the traditional game of Chess sparks lots of giant sized fun for everyone!  Imaginative and physical play is so important, and tactical games such as chess are brilliant for inspiring children to explore and develop their minds, as well as learning many social skills that will benefit them greatly.  The giant sized chess mat easily rolls up for convenience, while the detailed chess pieces create wonderful characters that immerse the players into this exciting game.” Hannah, Big Game Hunters.

Chess is a very enjoyable game, which promotes teamwork and develops logic and skill. We are very grateful to Graham from Stroud Chess Club and Big Game Hunters for working together to provide us with such a fabulous resource. Thank you very much!

We will post photographs of staff and children enjoying our new game in due course.
